Nuclear waste as a socio-technical problem

In public discussion, high-level nuclear waste is often referred to as an exceptional environmental problem. It indeed problem, but not primarily because of the permanent threat that poses future generations, usually argued. Its exceptionality rather stems from socio-technical factors create deadlocks and dilemmas, thus hampering delaying decision-making. This article provides overview major issues pertaining waste, including some have been neglected in previous literature, contributes technology assessment this field.
